Daughter Makes ARR Proud

Despite being world famous, theirs is one of the most unassuming families. And it is yet another Hosanna moment for the Mozart of Madras, for this is a first event of its kind in his family. Music director AR Rahman's daughter has come out in flying colours in her class 12 examinations. The results were just announced and it turns out that the musical genius' eldest daughter Khatija has secured 94% in her high school exam. In an official release, he praised the Lord and declared the happy news and also expressed his delight over his daughter's results.

ARR is busy with a lot of composition commitments across languages and is currently awaiting, like all his fans, the release of his next album, 'Mariyaan'; the film is directed by Bharat Bala and stars Dhanush in the lead. The single track that released from the movie, 'Nenje Ezhu' is a chart buster and a crowd favourite.

AR Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja Perform Together

The Yuvan-ARR bond has been growing stronger with each passing day of late. YSR sung for AR Rahman in Bharat Bala's Dhanush project, 'Mariyaan'. And ARR is to attend the music launch of Yuvan's 100th, 'Biriyani'. Now the latest is that the two will be performing on stage for 7th Vijay Awards. The channel's official Tweet reads "Oooh!!! This is just in: ARR and Yuvan to perform together on stage at Vijay Awards May 11th event."

The event will also have the 'Mariyaan' team attending it. The awards function is expected to be a grand event to be held on May 11th.

Nayan - Arya to Tie the Knot

Hot and happening from the sets of 'Raja Rani', we have some juicy input. If the rumour is to be believed then it is a sensation for, south Indian damsel Nayanthara and Kollywood heartthrob Arya are tying the knot! We hear that the love sparked between the on screen rage on the sets of 'Raja Rani'. They have left the audience in awe from their earlier film together, 'Boss Engira Baskaran'. Now they are also sharing the screen for Vishnuvardhan's Ajith project.

Meanwhile, we are given to believe that the marriage news may be hoax and purely a marketing gimmick, owing to the activity session to be conducted by the 'Raja Rani' tomorrow. However, the breeze is making a buzz nonetheless.

'Jilla' Starts Rolling from May 13th

During the shoot of 'Velayudham', it was Ilayathalapathy Vijay's parting gift to the associate directors that he'd enact his script. And thus was conceived 'Jilla' by director Nesan. The film is based in the temple town Madurai and we hear that most part of the film is to be shot in a majestic set that has been erected to resemble a traditional south Indian house. The story is family based, as we are informed, but the team, however, decides to draw a line there, keeping the rest of the outlook on the movie a secret. The team had a photoshoot, which was kept under wraps, in a leading studio in Chennai, with the lead pair - Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal - posing for the camera. Having had a satisfying outcome, the team has decided to go on the floors from May 13th, in Madurai, with most of the cast crew being canned, including Kajal and Mohanlal. Vijay, however, will join them only later, by June 3rd, when they would have shifted to Chennai screen set up, after about half a month of shooting in the temple town. Meanwhile, taking a sneak peek into the film, we also managed to find out that Vijay's screen name is proposed to be Shakthi. The film is produced by RB Chowdary and music for 'Jilla' is scored by Imman. The cast crew also includes Soori, Thambi Ramaiah, Nivedita Thomas and Mahat. The film is expected to shoot at a rapid pace.

shahrukh khan at Vijay Awards

Vijay awards will be featuring their 7th edition this year and it just gets bigger and bigger. Already a star studded event, the ceremony will be mad much grandeur by none other than King Khan himself. The actor who is currently filming "Chennai Express" was approached by Vijay TV to felicitate the function and he seems to have given the nod readily. Chennai express is a love story and has some Tamil celebrities playing parts in it. The award function from Vijay TV is quite creating a sensation every year with both quality wise and presentation as well. The preparations are in full swing and the event is set to take place in Chennai with an official word to be out pretty soon.

Ajith's new fan on the block

Still basking on the success of Kumki is homely girl "Lakshmi Menon". Both her previous films, Sundarapandiyan and Kumki were huge hits and the actress had a meaty role in both the films. She is currently paired up with Sasikumar again for the upcoming Kutipuli. Her palpably innocent looks has garnered the youngsters pretty well indeed and the actress is cloud 9 considering her good time. Recently during an interaction with the media, she revealed that her favorite stars in Kollywood are Suriya and Ajith. She further quipped that, if offered a role with Ajith as the hero, she would promptly accept the offer without demanding any salary. Now that's something only for our Thala, so any producers and directors listening to this?

Maniratnam to sign up Gautam Karthik again ?

Maniratnam's craze for experimentation is a lesson to most of the budding directors; he still continues to do that. Though his recent flick Kadal might have been an average grosser, there is a talk in Kollywood that the ace director has already zeroed in some important aspects for his next flick.

Though initially there were rounds of whispers that Mani is to direct a Hindi film, the latest buzz is that it will be a Tamil film indeed. Maniratnam is known for repeating his lead actors in quite a number of films, Arvind swamy, Madhavan and now this time it seems Karthik's son Gautam Karthik will be back in Mani's film. An official announcement with the rest of the plans is yet be out from Mani's camp.

No Dates for Dad

With 'Vishwaroopam 2' gearing up towards completion on a fast pace, Kamal Hassan is firming up his next film, 'Bitter Chocolate'. Earlier it was decided that Shruthi Hassan would be paired up with Kamal for this movie. However, she has denied the offer, since she has no dates available. She had posted on her micro blog, "Hi tweeple I'm not a part of bitter chocolate with my father I'm both sad and happy to say I have no dates at the moment:) next time." 'Bitter Chocolate' will be a movie that is scripted and directed, apart from starring, by Kamal Hassan

Vishwaroopam 2

The first part was a phenomenal success, with the movie creating waves even now. Everyone was excited to know that a sequel was to be released, for 'Vishwaroopam'. On constant updates, it has been reported that the film is gearing up very quickly. The proof of the pudding is here - 'Vishwaroopam 2' will hit the screens on August 15th, this year, across 3000 theatres, all around the globe! Seems like we don't have to wait too long. The news was declared by one of the executive producers of the movie, VTV Ganesh. He also said that the film has been created in a budget of Rs. 50 crores, as a portion of the film was already shot during the canning of the first part.

It was rather quizzical as to why the portions where Andrea appears, in the first part, did not seem to have high importance. The team says that this doubt will be clarified in the sequel, 'Vishwaroopam 2', which will explore the depth of her character. The movie is set on the backdrop of India, unlike 'Vishwaroopam' that predominantly focused on the terrains of Afghanistan.

The director considers himself lucky to have had a highly cooperative team, and philanthropic producer, who has offered to make the movie a big budget hit.

Comedy track in the movie is carried by MS Baskar, in a slightly cynical characterization, along with Alva Vasu. A calculation-based comedy, is likened to the banana-based comedy sequence from 'Karagattakaran', and is touted to be reminisced for many years to come. A melody by Shreya Ghoshal is one of the most awaited tracks in the album, and all songs are touted to become chart busters. Steps have been choreographed to the foot-tapping numbers, by Radhika and Shobi. While Rasamadhi, famous poet Arivumadhi's son, cranks the camera, editing is done by Gopi Krishna of 'Vazhakku En 18/9' fame.

Nayan Dances for Kuththu Song in 'Ethir Neechal'

'Sathiyama Nee Enaku Thevaiyillai' is how the song penned down by director Durai Senthil for his upcoming flick 'Ethir Neechal' opens. Nayanthara, who usually does not accept offers to do special songs, except like 'Balleilaka' from 'Sivaji', had given a nod to perform in this kuththu song from the film that stars Siva Karthiyan, Priya Anand and Nandita in the lead.

The director, a former associate of stalwart directors Vetri Maaran and Balu Mahindra, was quizzed about the song, to which he replied "The song was excellently composed by Anirudh. We designed a set to resemble a highway motel, in Nagercoil. In the night-like settings, the song was shot over a three-day span." But how did the glam doll nod to do this special performance? It was none other than the producer of the movie, Dhanush, who convinced her to do the number! Incidentally, Dhanush also plays a cameo in the film.

Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroopam" has been opted out of release in Tamil Nadu due to court orders. Kollywood, the home of the legendary Kamal Haasan is unlucky enough to miss this revolutionary film of his.

A small ounce of comfort for the Tamil speaking audience would be that the Tamil version of "Vishwaroopam" did get released today! Not in Kollywood though, far away in the city of Hyderabad Prasad Theater in Hyderabad has taken up the bold move of releasing the Tamil version in a state which isn't Tamil Nadu. We hope that such a move might in turn encourage the court to allow the release here too.
